The Wing Gundam Zero, the ultimate mobile suit of the Gundam Wing world, was designed in AC 180 by five scientists who had helped develop the Earth Alliance's first military mobile suits. Having seen the products of their work used to brutally subjugate the space colonies, these five scientists set out to create a new mobile suit that would surpass the Alliance's weapons.

However, they did too good a job. The Wing Gundam Zero's raw power, and the dangerous stress it would place on its human pilot, so frightened its creators that they never completed their work. For fifteen years the Wing Gundam Zero existed only in blueprint form, a base design from which each of the five scientists developed his own Gundam for use against the tyrannical Alliance. At last, in AC 195, Gundam pilot Quatre Raberba Winner discovers the blueprints and brings this original Gundam to life.

Specially designed for space combat, the Wing Gundam Zero sports an array of powerful thrusters and can transform into a high-speed "neo bird mode." It's armed with beam sabers, pop-up machine cannons in its shoulders, and a devastating twin buster rifle. However, thanks to the Zero System - a unique control system that connects the pilot's mind directly to the Gundam's combat computer - the Wing Gundam Zero's most dangerous and unpredictable weapon is its human pilot.

Production Site / L1 Colony Cluster

In the year AC 195, rebel space colonists send five Gundams to Earth to wage war against the opressive Alliance. Each of these Gundams is based on the fifteen-year-old Wing Gundam Zero design, but the Wing Gundam, created Doctor J and piloted by a boy code-named Heero Yuy, bears the greatest resemblance to its ancestor. Though the ill-fated Wing Gundam is intercepted during re-entry and spends most of the following months either blown to bits or sitting at the bottom of the ocean, it's nonetheless a superb example of mobile suit engineering.

Where its namesake was designed for space combat, the Wing Gundam is meant for use on Earth. It can transform into a winged "bird mode," allowing it to survive re-entry and fly in Earth's atmosphere. This gives the Wing Gundam far greater range than the other four Gundams, which are effectively ground-bound.

The Wing Gundam's primary armament is its buster rifle, a particle beam cannon based on the main weapon of the Wing Gundam Zero. At maximum power, the buster rifle's wide beam can vaporize several enemy mobile suits with a single blast, but its supply of stored energy is only sufficient for three shots. Otherwise, the Wing Gundam must depend on its beam saber and the medium-range machine cannons in its shoulders.

XXXG-01D Gundam Deathscythe
Pilot / Duo Maxwell
Production Site / L2 Colony Cluster

The Deathscythe, the second of the five Gundams dispatched to Earth as part of Operation Meteor, was created by the scavenger organization known as the Sweeper Group. It was developed by the Sweeper Group's Professor G, an expert in stealth technology. Thanks to the hyper jammers on its backpack, the Gundam Deathscythe can scramble enemy radar and visual sensors, remaining invisible to its foes until the moment it strikes them down. Its high speed makes this Gundam ideal for such hit-and-run tactics, and pilot Duo Maxwell exploits this capability to the hilt.

The Deathscythe's primary weapon is its lethal beam scythe, supplemented by the standard vulcans and machine cannons. The Gundam's buster shield also functions as a weapon, equipped with sharp pincers and a central beam blade; the shield can even be launched at enemy mobile suits, to deliver its killing blow at a distance.

XXXG-01D2 Gundam Deathscythe Hell
Pilot / Duo Maxwell

When OZ launches its campaign to win over the space colonies, Gundam pilot Duo Maxwell returns to space with his Gundam Deathscythe. He is soon captured, and his Gundam wrecked, by OZ's space forces. However, the five scientists who created the Gundams use the resources of OZ's lunar base to reconstruct the Deathscythe under their enemy's very nose. When the time comes for Duo to make his escape, the as-yet-incomplete Deathscythe Hell proves to be more than a match for OZ's mobile dolls.

Though the remodeled Deathscythe Hell sports a dangerous double-bladed twin beam scythe, the biggest improvement is its amazing multi-purpose active cloak. For starters, this device serves as an extra layer of armor, complete with a beam-deflecting barrier based on the Mercurius's planet defensor technology. Its stealth capabilities also enhance the effectiveness of the hyper jammers, rendering the Deathscythe Hell invisible even to visual sensors. When opened, the bat-like wings of the active cloak function as maneuvering devices. And, of course, its demonic appearance makes for an effective psychological weapon.

XXXG-01H Gundam Heavyarms
Pilots / Trowa Barton
Heero Yuy
Production Site / L3 Colony Cluster

Created by the scientist Doktor S and piloted by a young warrior known as Trowa Barton, the Gundam Heavyarms is designed for sheer long-range firepower. Heavily armed and armored, it's packed with enough guns and missiles to wipe out a squadron of battleships. As a result, the Heavyarms is the Gundam best equipped to carry out mass combat against multiple foes. However, its limited ammunition can prove a liability during extended battles.

The Gundam's primary weapon is its beam gatling, which is integrated into the gatling shield worn on its left arm. Its chest houses another pair of gatling guns and two machine cannons; the missile pods on its legs house 24 micromissile launchers; and each shoulder contains three lethally accurate homing missiles. In the rare event that an enemy survives to reach close range, the Heavyarms is also equipped with a heat blade on its right forearm.

When OZ launches its cunning campaign to win the hearts and minds of the space colonies, the five Gundam pilots hurry back to space to counter their enemy's scheming. Gundam pilot Trowa Barton, aware of the Gundam Heavyarms's shortcomings in space combat, leaves his mobile suit behind on Earth. In due course, the hidden Heavyarms is found by resistance fighters and shipped up to space, where the mysterious Howard - co-creator of the Tallgeese and current captain of the Peacemillion - refits it for use in space.

The revamped Gundam Heavyarms Kai (or "Custom") features numerous minor modifications for space combat, including additional maneuvering verniers and a second pair of backpack thrusters. Its already-unrivaled firepower is further increased with the addition of a second beam gatling barrel.

XXXG-01SR Gundam Sandrock
Pilot / Quatre Raberba Winner
Production Site / L4 Colony Cluster

The Gundam Sandrock, created by Instructor H using the resources of the Winner family, is the fourth of the Gundams sent to Earth in Operation Meteor. This powerful, heavily-armored mobile suit is perfectly suited to the desert environments of the Winner family's Middle Eastern homeland. Its regal appearance also suits the noble heritage of its pilot, Quatre Raberba Winner.

The Sandrock's primary weapons are its massive heat shotels. Thanks to its sheer power, the Gundam can wield one of these huge curved swords in either hand and strike with both simultaneously. The heat shotels can be combined with the Gundam's backpack and shield to form an immense pincer weapon called the "Cross Crusher." Though it's fearsome at close quarters, the Sandrock's only long-range weapons are the homing missiles in its shoulders, supplemented by the standard head vulcans.

XXXG-01SR2 Gundam Sandrock Kai
Pilot / Quatre Raberba Winner

When Gundam pilots Quatre Raberba Winner and Duo Maxwell attempt to return to the space colonies to thwart OZ's evil machinations, Quatre is forced to self-destruct his Gundam Sandrock to buy time for their escape. The Sandrock is subsequently reconstructed by OZ, then captured by resistance fighters who return it to Quatre. When Quatre returns to space once again, the Sandrock proves poorly suited for space combat, and master mechanic Howard takes it upon himself to upgrade Quatre's Gundam for use in space.

The remodeled Gundam Sandrock Kai (or "Custom") features improved thrusters and additional maneuvering verniers, to improve its space mobility. However, the modified backpack can no longer be used to form the "Cross Crusher" attack. The Sandrock Kai's distinctive heat shotels remain its primary weapon, but it's now armed with a hand-held beam machine gun for increased long-range firepower. With his upgraded Sandrock Kai, Quatre goes on to become the de facto leader of the Gundam pilots, coordinating them in their battles with White Fang's mobile dolls.

Mobile Suit
XXXG-01S Shenlong Gundam
Pilot / Chang Wufei
Production Site / L5 Colony Cluster

The Shenlong, the fifth Gundam created for Operation Meteor, was developed by Master O for the Long clan of the L5 colony cluster. The Shenlong's name means "God Dragon" in Chinese, reflecting the heritage of this proud warrior clan. The Shenlong Gundam is designed especially for melee combat, in which capacity it benefits from the martial arts skills of its pilot Chang Wufei.

The Shenlong's main weapon is the beam glaive stored on its back, a long javelin-style weapon with far greater reach than a normal beam saber. Its most devastating armament, though, is the "dragon fang" built into its right arm. This unique weapon combines an extendable claw and a pair of medium-range flamethrowers. In a special "dragon fang fire" attack of Wufei's own devising, the Shenlong Gundam grapples its target with the claws and then fires the flamethrowers at point blank range, melting the enemy's armor like water.

XXXG-01S2 Altron Gundam
Pilot / Chang Wufei

Like his fellow Gundam pilots, Chang Wufei returns to space with his Shenlong Gundam to counter OZ's appeal to the colonies. Though the Shenlong fares a little better in space combat than the other Gundams, it's still not up to the task of waging a one-man war against OZ's army of mobile dolls. Wufei allows himself to be captured, and the five scientists who created the Gundams proceed to secretly upgrade his Gundam at OZ's lunar base.

The renamed Altron Gundam, as indicated by its name (from the Chinese "er-to long," or "two-headed dragon"), has a dragon fang installed in each arm. These extendable claws, combined with a double-ended beam trident, give the Altron completely unparalleled fighting abilities. Meanwhile, its longer-range firepower is enhanced with a pair of beam cannons, based on the Vayeate's main weapon, which are mounted on an extendable arm attached to its back. Lastly, a set of "random binders" on its backpack give the Altron better space mobility

Oz

OZ Mobile Suit
OZ-00MS Tallgeese
Pilot / Zechs Merquise

The Tallgeese, or Prototype Leo, was the first combat-ready mobile suit and the ancestor of all modern mobile suits. It was developed at the Corsica research base under the auspices of OZ, a subsidiary of the Romefeller Foundation. The Tallgeese was essentially completed by AC 175, when its designers quit the project in reaction to the assassination of space colony leader Heero Yuy. OZ subsequently developed and produced a series of mass-produced mobile suits based on the Tallgeese, while its disgruntled designers set out to surpass their earlier creation.

This experimental mobile suit was designed for maximum power and performance. Huge and heavily-armored, the Tallgeese sports powerful vernier rockets whose immense thrust allows it to fly in Earth's atmosphere. However, its tricky handling and raw acceleration make the Tallgeese imposible for all but the toughest and most skillful human pilot to operate. When OZ ace pilot Zechs Merquise drags this twenty-year-old antique out of storage in order to battle the space colonists' Gundams, it's an act of almost suicidal desperation.

The Tallgeese's usual armament consists of a pair of beam sabers stored inside its shield, and a shell-firing cannon known as a dobergun. While the dobergun's recoil is almost too much for a Leo to handle, the giant Tallgeese has no problem wielding this devastating weapon.

OZ Mobile Suit
OZ-00MS2 Tallgeese II
Pilot / Treize Khushrenada

In the last days of AC 195, as the conflict between Earth and the space colonies draws to a close, former OZ commander Treize Khushrenada rejoins the fray as leader of the terrestrial World Nation. To lead his troops into their final battle against White Fang's army of mobile dolls, Treize creates a suitably impressive personal mobile suit.

Treize's Tallgeese II was assembled from spare parts left over from the development of the original Tallgeese. Its performance is more or less unchanged from the version used by Zechs Merquise, and it's a testament to Treize's superb skills as a pilot that he is able to control this notoriously dangerous mobile suit. Aside from its personalized color scheme, the Tallgeese II's only noticeable design change is to its head, which sports a Gundam-influenced faceplate and an Epyon-style crest.

OZ-06MS Leo Early Type
This early model of the Leo is still in use in some regions of Earth, such as the breakaway republic formed in China by Colonel Bunt of the Earth Alliance. Bunt's forces are all equipped with these early types, which are outfitted with the standard Leo machine gun and shield.

OZ-06MS Leo
Pilots /
Zechs Merquise

(Many more pilots though none are important to the story in any way)
The Leo is the standard mass-produced mobile suit used by the Earth Alliance, the elite Specials corps, and the secret society OZ. It's essentially a scaled-down, simplified version of the prototype mobile suit Tallgeese. With its smaller size and lower performance, the Leo is both more economical to produce and easier for the average pilot to handle.

Unlike later models in the "Zodiac" series of mass-produced mobile suits, the Leo is highly flexible. With the appropriate equipment, it can be used in a variety of environments and tactical roles. The ground version of the Leo is typically armed with a 105mm machine gun, but it can also be outfitted with a beam rifle, a bazooka, or the powerful shell-firing cannon known as the dobergun. The optional shoulder-mounted shield stores a pair of beam sabers for anti-mobile suit combat.

OZ Mobile Suit
OZ-06MS Leo Cannon Type
The cannon type is a rare variant of the Leo, typically used by Earth Alliance company commanders. Its modified shoulders house a pair of cannons of an unknown type, and it's usually seen toting a beam rifle as well.

OZ Mobile Suit
OZ-06MS Leo Space Type
Though designed primarily for use on Earth and within space colonies, the Leo can be adapted for use in space with the addition of a booster backpack. This version of the Leo is used primarily by the Earth Alliance's "cosmo-arma," or space force. Its standard weapon is a beam rifle similar to that used by the ground version of the Leo, albeit equipped with a radar disc rather than an optical sensor.

Inspector Acht

This descendant of the general-purpose Leo is a flight-capable mobile suit, designed for aerial combat. While it's used by some regular Earth Alliance forces, the Aries is particularly popular with the elite Specials corps - which is to say, the secret society OZ. Its bulky body and spindly legs make it slow and clumsy on the ground, but the Aries is a superb aerial attack unit.

The Aries is usually equipped with a chain rifle, which can be folded up and stowed on its wing pylons when not in use. It can also carry one or more missile pods, which can likewise be stored under the wings or held in the mobile suit's hands.

OZ Transformable Mobile Suit
OZ-07MS Tragos">
The Tragos is a land warfare mobile suit based on the Leo, which is used by both the Earth Alliance and OZ. This squat and heavily-armored mobile suit can be outfitted with an optional hovercraft system, giving it superb ground mobility in deserts and other level terrain. The Tragos can jettison its hover gear in mid-battle and move on two legs like a conventional mobile suit.

In addition to various hand-held weapons, the Tragos can be equipped with a pair of shoulder-mounted cannons for long-range bombardment. These "horns" are rather appropriate for a mobile suit whose name means "goat" in Greek. Unlike OZ's other mass-produced mobile suits, the Tragos isn't named after a Zodiac sign, though it could be considered a substitute for the sea-goat Capricorn.

Pilots /
Zechs Merquise
Heero Yuy

The seventh and last of the Gundams, the Epyon was created by former OZ leader Treize Khushrenada, based on data from the Tallgeese and the previous Gundams. In keeping with Treize's martial philosophy, the Epyon was designed for close-range combat, omitting all long-range armament. Though initially given to Gundam pilot Heero Yuy, the Epyon ultimately finds its way into the hands of Treize's old friend Zechs Merquise.

The Epyon's beam sword, connected via cable to the Gundam's generator, is the most powerful melee weapon ever used by a mobile suit. Its only other weapon is a multi-segmented, heat-radiating whip called a heat rod, which is attached to its shield. The Epyon can also transform into a mobile armor mode for high-speed flight both in space and in Earth's atmosphere. And last, but certainly not least, it's equipped with a mind-bending Zero System similar to that of the Wing Gundam Zero.

Quatre Raberba Winner

The Taurus is OZ's new space mobile suit, which is soon put to use against the Earth Alliance's space forces. Sleek, fast, and highly agile, it's a challenging opponent even for a Gundam - especially when armed with its powerful beam cannon. It can also transform into a streamlined "flight mode". Last, and certainly not least, the Taurus is equipped with the Romefeller Foundation's "mobile doll system," an artificial intelligence system which enables it to fight with lethal efficiency even without a human pilot.

OZ's own Taurus mobile suits are colored black. When Relena Peacecraft re-establishes the Sanc Kingdom, her aide Lucrezia Noin secretly assembles a corps of white Taurus units, which are the only ones ever seen fighting in Earth's atmosphere - it's not clear whether they've been specially modified for this purpose. And when the space colonies form the White Fang resistance movement, their apparently colorblind leaders come up with a distinctive new color scheme for their captured Taurus mobile suits.

OZ Mobile Doll
OZ-02MD Virgo
The Virgo is the first pure mobile doll, a computer-controlled war machine designed without a cockpit for a human pilot. Developed at OZ's lunar base, it's based on test data gathered from the experimental mobile suits Mercurius and Vayeate. Each Virgo is equipped with a powerful beam cannon derived from the Vayeate's main weapon, and a set of four planet defensors like those of the Mercurius. Fighting in mass numbers or in teams of three, they can combine their planet defensors to form an impenetrable defensive barrier.

Though the Virgo isn't as fast or agile as its predecessor, the Taurus, its firepower and defensive abilities more than make up for the performance gap. When the Romefeller Foundation-controlled OZ carries out Operation Nova, dropping hundreds of Virgos to Earth to wipe out terrestrial opposition, the conventional mobile suit forces of its opponents are literally powerless to resist. However, the advanced weapons of the Gundams are still effective against these killer robots.

Maganac Corps Mobile Suit
WMS-03 Maganac
The Maganac is a mass-produced mobile suit similar to the Leo, developed by an independent Middle Eastern nation and used exclusively by the forty members of the eponymous Maganac Corps. This private army escorts Gundam Sandrock pilot Quatre Raberba Winner during his first visit to Earth, and thereafter fights its own independent war against OZ and the Romefeller Foundation. While it's tailored for desert combat, the versatile Maganac can fight in a wide range of terrains, and even in space.

Each Maganac is customized to fit its pilot's tastes and combat style. These customizations include a variety of armament - shell-firing rifles, cannons, machine guns, scimitars, beam sabers, and so forth - as well as modified armor and thruster systems. However, for the most part these variants are all functionally similar, and the Maganac Corps' success in battle against OZ's advanced mobile suits is due more to the skill and tactical discipline of its pilots than to the capabilities of their mobile suits.

Maganac Corps Mobile Suit
WMS-04 Olifant
The Olifant is a support mobile suit developed by the same independent Middle Eastern nation that created the Maganac. While it re-uses some Maganac components, the Olifant is designed primarily for long-range artillery fire, and thus lacks arms and manipulator hands. Although it sports a gatling gun for close defense, the Olifant is essentially defenseless in melee combat. Its chief defense is its high mobility - like OZ's Tragos, the Olifant is equipped with a hovercraft system for rapid movement over level terrain like desert sand dunes.

While the Maganac Corps roam far and wide in their struggle against OZ, the Olifant is used strictly for home defense. These mobile suits first appear when the Maganac Corps's homeland is attacked by OZ, and can later be seen fighting in defense of the Sanq Kingdom.

White Fang

White Fang Mobile Doll
WF-03MD Virgo II
This improved version of the Virgo was originally developed by OZ, but when the production facilities are seized by the rebel organization White Fang, the new and improved mobile doll becomes the backbone of White Fang's forces. The Virgo II is improved in every respect, with twice as many planet defensors and a set of shoulder-mounted boosters similar to those of the Tallgeese. In addition to the standard beam rifle or beam cannon, it also carries a beam saber in each shoulder shield - the first mobile doll to do so.

Thanks to its stronger defensive barrier and higher mobility, the Virgo II proves to be a challenging opponent even for the Gundams. As White Fang continues to upgrade its mobile dolls' software, ultimately adapting the Zero System to allow a single human operator to coordinate an entire army of Virgo IIs, the Gundam pilots are finally forced to fight as a team instead of battling alone.

Gundam Pilot
Heero Yuy
Organization / Gundam Pilot

Series / Gundam Wing

Series / Endless Waltz

The pilot of the Wing Gundam, the boy known as Heero is the most grim and serious of the Gundam pilots. His true name is unknown, but for this mission of revenge he has been code-named after the martyred leader of the space colonies. Raised by the scientist Doctor J, Heero has been trained since childhood to be a ruthless killing machine, equally proficient in mobile suit piloting, personal combat, demolitions, and computer hacking.

Though Heero's upbringing hasn't quite managed to squeeze all the compassion out of him, he is nonetheless callous towards his allies, and cold-blooded towards his enemies, and almost suicidally careless of his own life. His unexpected reluctance to kill Relena, after she discovers his identity, is the first step in Heero's gradual reclamation of his own humanity.

Endless Waltz
The erstwhile human killing machine has mellowed a tiny bit by the time Endless Waltz begins. Still, he keeps a close eye on current events, scanning the computer nets for signs of trouble and watching over his friend Relena from afar. When Relena falls into the hands of the Mariemaia Army, he immediately rushes to her aid.

Secret History
Unlike some of his comrades, Heero was intentionally selected and trained for the role of a Gundam pilot. In an Endless Waltz flashback, we get a glimpse of how Heero was molded into the ruthless killer we saw at the start of the TV series. When a training mission went awry and resulted in innocent casualties, Heero's grief was seen as a sign of weakness. Dekim Barton, mastermind of Operation Meteor, ordered Doctor J to re-train the lad to eliminate these human failings.

Gundam Pilot
Quatre Raberba Winner
Organization / Gundam Pilot

Series / Gundam Wing

Series / Endless Waltz

The friendly, empathetic pilot of the Gundam Sandrock, Quatre is unusually tender-hearted for a Gundam pilot. He is the only son of a wealthy family of space colony builders, with 29 older sisters and a stern pacifist father who disapproves of his going into combat. Though Quatre himself abhors bloodshed, he feels compelled to fight to protect his loved ones.

While Quatre lacks the fighting prowess and ruthlessness of his fellow Gundam pilots, he does have excellent family connections, almost unlimited cash, and a troop of forty loyal underlings at his disposal. His gentle personality quickly wins over his fellow Gundam pilot Trowa Barton, and he eventually becomes the de facto leader of the Gundam pilots.

Endless Waltz
Though as of Endless Waltz most of his time is taken up with running his family's colony-construction business, Quatre remains the unofficial leader of the Gundam pilots, and it's in this capacity that he's persuaded his comrades to give up their Gundams and send these awesome weapons into the sun. When it turns out he's been a bit too hasty, Quatre begins a desperate journey to recover the Gundams and once again demonstrates that he's as clever and brave as he is gentle.

Secret History
Endless Waltz reveals little of Quatre's past. But as the co-creator of the Gundam Sandrock, along with Instructor H, he clearly falls into the category of non-accidental Gundam pilots. In a flashback, we see that Quatre's kindness and nobility prompted Instructor H to scrap his original instructions and trust the lad to follow his own judgement.

Gundam Pilot
Chang Wufei
Organization / Gundam Pilot

Series / Gundam Wing

Series / Endless Waltz

Organization / Mariemaia Army

Series / Endless Waltz

The stern pilot of the Shenlong Gundam is the proud offspring of a legendary warrior clan, who were exiled from China to a decrepit space colony by a fearful government. Wufei adheres to a strict code of honor and justice, seeking to protect the weak and punish the guilty. But his pride is something of a weak point - when pushed too far, Wufei's huge ego has a tendency to break.

Unlike the other Gundam pilots, even the relatively antisocial Heero and Trowa, Wufei prefers to operate alone and frequently seems to have a better idea what's going on than his blundering fellows. His only companion is his Gundam, which he calls "Nataku" after the Chinese mythological hero.

Endless Waltz
In Endless Waltz Wufei, driven by his warrior's pride and a burning sense of justice, has found himself unable to adapt to a world at peace. As he sees it, the new era has simply discarded the soldiers who fought to bring it about, and he has no choice but to seek out a new battle. Thus, he declines to join his former comrades in disposing of his Gundam, and instead puts it at the service of the rebel Mariemaia Army.

Secret History
In an Endless Waltz flashback, we see how Wufei rebelled against the original plan for Operation Meteor, which called for dropping his home colony onto Earth. Instead, he took the Shenlong Gundam and went to Earth to fight the enemy directly. Ironically, the colony was nonetheless destroyed in the course of the war against OZ, leaving Wufei without a home or family to return to.

Duo Maxwell

The pilot of the Gundam Deathscythe, Duo is as jolly and happy-go-lucky as Gundam pilots get. He persists in offering his friendship to the initially hostile Heero, eventually winning his antisocial comrade's trust through sheer persistence. But despite his friendly nature, Duo earns his "God of Death" nickname when he takes on Alliance and OZ soldiers in battle.

Prior to Operation Meteor, Duo was part of the spacegoing salvage organization known as the Sweeper Group, and on Earth he is assisted by the Sweepers' seafaring kinsfolk. When there is a lull in the fighting, Duo happily returns to his salvage-merchant's trade. He is distinguished by his black wardrobe, his yard-long braided ponytail, and his minister's collar.

Endless Waltz
In Endless Waltz Duo, who seems perfectly happy not to have the fate of humanity resting on his shoulders anymore, has returned to civilian life as a scrap dealer. However, he still keeps in touch with his buddy Heero, and tags along on the grim hero's rescue mission to the space colony X-18999.

Secret History
Judging from a flashback sequence in Endless Waltz, it appears that Duo came into possession of the Gundam Deathscythe more or less by accident. As a member of the space scavenger organization known as the Sweeper Group, he discovered the genocidal scope of the true Operation Meteor, and attempted to destroy the Deathscythe rather than let it be used for mass murder. Professor G, evidently of the same mind, suggested that Duo instead take the Deathscythe, flee to Earth, and join forces with Howard to attack OZ directly.

Gundam Pilot

Organization / Gundam Pilot

Series / Gundam Wing

Series / Endless Waltz

Organization / Mariemaia Army

Series / Endless Waltz

The pilot of the gun-toting Gundam Heavyarms, the boy who calls himself Trowa is the most mysterious of the Gundam pilots. Calm, cool, and detached, he seldom speaks and never smiles. Trowa falls in with a travelling circus troupe as cover for his terrorist mission, finding employment as the world's most dispassionate clown. Trowa is a gifted and fearless acrobat, and these abilities also prove useful in his alternate occupation as a Gundam pilot.

Despite his youth, Trowa is an experienced professional soldier. His preferred combat tactic is to stand his ground and spray the battlefield with an endless hail of bullets, though every now and then he'll dispatch an enemy with his acrobatic trademark move - a mid-air triple spin, ending in a deadly knife slash.

Endless Waltz
Still touring the world with his traveling circus, as Endless Waltz begins this former guerilla warrior is content with his new life as an acrobatic clown. However, when the circus visits the space colony X-18999, Trowa's path once again crosses that of the Barton Foundation, and he is drawn into the gathering conflict. As he did in the war against OZ, Trowa infiltrates the enemy army to foil their evil schemes from within.

Secret History
Many mysteries of Trowa's past are revealed in Endless Waltz, including the origins of his borrowed name. Orphaned in infancy, he was raised by a mercenary troop, and by age 10 this nameless boy was already a skilled mobile suit pilot. On the eve of Operation Meteor, he witnessed the murder of the real Trowa Barton by one of Doktor S's assistants, and volunteered to take the dead man's name and pilot the Gundam Heavyarms in his stead.

However, she yearns for something more in her well-ordered life, and her chance encounter with Gundam pilot Heero Yuy soon provides exactly the kind of excitement she'd been longing for - plus an element of dangerous flirtation.

Early in the story, Relena's dying foster father reveals her real identity: she is the daughter of King Peacecraft of the Sanc Kingdom, spirited away to safety when the kingdom was razed by Alliance troops. Relena soon decides to continue the pacifist work of her true parent, and becomes a leading advocate for peace and nonviolence in an increasingly chaotic world.

Endless Waltz
In Endless Waltz Relena has resumed her foster father's name, and now continues his diplomatic work as a vice minister for foreign affairs under the Earth Sphere Unified Nation government. In addition to spearheading a Martian terraforming project, Relena's duties involve maintaining peaceful relations between Earth and the space colonies. The masked man known as Zechs is an ace mobile suit pilot of the Alliance's elite Specials force, which is in reality a front for the secret society called OZ. Having earned the highest marks in the history of the Specials' Lake Victoria military academy, received the first two-rank promotion in the organization's history, and acquired the nickname "Lightning Baron" for his exploits, he is a hero to the Specials' members and the trusted friend of their leader Treize. But for all his fame, Zechs is shrewd and cautious, wary of taking unnecessary risks or underestimating his enemies.

Zechs's mask hides a dark secret. He is actually the son of King Peacecraft, heir to the Sanc Kingdom and Relena's long-lost brother. Though OZ eventually gives him the opportunity to avenge the death of his father and the destruction of his homeland, Zechs is uncertain how to proceed from there. Trained as a warrior, his hands stained with the blood of battle, the man born Milliardo Peacecraft feels himself unworthy to follow his father's pacifist path. Ultimately, he joins the White Fang resistance group and leads them into a final grand battle, hoping to stage a war to end all wars...

Endless Waltz
As Endless Waltz begins, Zechs has been missing and presumed dead since the "Eve Wars" of AC 195. When the Mariemaia Army mobilizes against the Earth Sphere Unified Nation, he comes out of hiding and joins the staff of the Preventer intelligence agency, giving himself the elemental codename "Wind." Though this represents something of a departure for a man who was last seen trying to destroy the Earth, Zechs seems sincere in his desire to protect the hard-won peace against this new disruption. While battling the Mariemaia Army's legions, he even takes pains to avoid killing the enemy's misguided pilots.

After graduation she became an instructor at the academy, where she trains new Specials recruits in the art of space combat. Despite her own fighting skills, Noin dislikes war, and often intercedes with Treize to rein in Lady Une's excesses.

Somehow, Noin has discerned the secret of Zechs's true identity, and she is fascinated with her flamboyant former classmate. When she encounters Zechs again after more than a year's separation, she happily becomes his sidekick, and soon takes his sister Relena under her wing as an extension of her loyalty to Zechs.

In Endless Waltz, Noin has become a member of the Earth Sphere Unified Nation's Preventer intelligence agency, operating under the codename "Fire." Having patiently awaited the return of her beloved Zechs, Noin joins him in the defense of Brussels. But Treize has his own agenda apart from the Romefeller Foundation's simple lust for world domination; he believes that war is a noble pursuit, and seeks to harness the destructive forces he's unleashed for the betterment of all humanity.

As befits his noble breeding, Treize is a gentleman and a chivalrous warrior, adored by his underlings and respected even by his bitter enemies. He has a long friendship with Zechs, and goes to some lengths to protect his old friend when Zechs's more eccentric activities draw the attentions of the suspicious Romefeller Foundation.

Treize's loyal aide and agent, Lady Une eagerly attends to her master's every need, from drawing his bath to assassinating his enemies. She is as cruel and merciless to her enemies as she is devoted to Treize, and her zealous suppression of Eastern European rebels has earned her the nickname "Fiery Une." On occasion, her enthusiasm earns her gentle rebukes from the more chivalrous Treize.

Later in the story, another side of Lady's personality is revealed. Taking off her glasses and letting down her hair, she becomes OZ's saintly ambassador to the space colonies, bringing a message of peace, love, and strength through armed self-defense. This gentle persona isn't just a pose, but a genuine split personality; in effect there are two Lady Unes, one as sweet and meek as the other is venomous and cruel.

Endless Waltz
By Endless Waltz the OZ officer once dreaded as the bloodthirsty "Fiery Une," and revered as a living saint by the gullible space colonies, has at last reconciled the two sides of her split personality. Dorothy is not only Duke Dermail's granddaughter, but also the daughter of the late General Catalonia, who was Treize's predecessor as leader of OZ. When Relena revives the Sanc Kingdom and founds a school where she can teach her pacifist philosophies, Dorothy enrolls as an exchange student from the Romefeller Foundation. Here she quickly establishes herelf as the anti-Relena, countering the young queen's optimistic teachings with the cynical view that, deep down, people love war and will never embrace peace. Dorothy also passes her time spying for the Romefeller Foundation and stalking Heero.

As the chaotic political landscape continues to mutate, Dorothy decides that her pro-war philosophy supercedes family loyalty. Signing up with the resistance group White Fang, she continues to encourage strife and sow the seeds of discord, though her reasons for doing so may not be what they first appear...

Endless Waltz
Dorothy, the former nemesis of Relena and the Gundam pilots, reappears in Endless Waltz to lend them some moral support. Hewing to her original philosophy that true peace will only be possible when the masses of humanity genuinely desire it, she pops up in war-torn Brussels and urges the cowering civilians to take matters into their own hands. Dorothy's pro-peace mob compellingly demonstrates the popular resistance to the Mariemaia Army's violent power grab, and reassures Chang Wufei that warriors like him aren't required to shoulder the entire burden of upholding the peace.

Story

New Mobile Report
Gundam Wing: Story
It's the year AC (After Colony) 195. Over the past century, humanity has established a number of space colonies, giant wheel-shaped constructs that are home to millions of people. These colonies are grouped in clusters at the five Lagrange points, areas of relative stability in Earth orbit.

Heero Yuy
For decades, while the Earth's surface was wracked by war and civil strife, the peace and quiet of the space colonies presented an attractive alternative for war-weary settlers. When the terrestrial wars ended, a new world government was established, a "United Earth Sphere Alliance" committed to bringing about peace through force of arms. In the name of peace and justice, the Alliance seized control of the colonies.

To lobby the Earth's nations for autonomy, the space colonists chose a man named Heero Yuy as their representative. The charismatic Yuy united the colonies, and his message of demilitarization and non-violence was well-received by the people of Earth. But when Yuy was assassinated in the year AC 175, the colonists' hopes were crushed and the colonies thrown into turmoil.

Tyranny of the Alliance
Under the pretext of restoring order to the colonies, the Alliance staged a second military intervention, using humanoid fighting machines called mobile suits to crush all opposition. The colonies were placed under martial law, and all communication and cooperation between colonies was prohibited. Even terrestrial nations sympathetic to Heero Yuy's philosophies, like Europe's pacifist Sanc Kingdom, were crushed by the Alliance's overwhelming force.

Behind the scenes, the Alliance is being manipulated by the Romefeller Foundation, the powerful industrial combine that develops and manufactures its mobile suits. The Alliance's elite mobile suit corps, the "Specials," is trained and staffed by the Romefeller Foundation. In fact, the Specials are nothing but a front for OZ, a Romefeller subsidiary which has been recast as a secret society. Answerable only to the Romefeller Foundation, OZ has infiltrated the highest levels of the Alliance military.

Operation Meteor
After two decades of oppression, a network of rebels based in the space colonies decides to strike back at OZ and its puppet Alliance. Resistance groups at each of the five colony clusters work independently on their part of Operation Meteor, each retaining the services of one of the scientists who helped create the first mobile suits. Using the super-strong armor material Gundanium, the scientists construct advanced mobile suits called "Gundams," entrust them to five highly-trained, resourceful young pilots, and dispatch them to Earth to wage guerilla war against the Alliance.

Of the five Gundam pilots, the L5 colony cluster's Chang Wufei, L4's Quatre Raberba Winner, L3's Trowa Barton and L2's Duo Maxwell reach Earth without incident. But L1's Gundam pilot, a grim youth codenamed Heero Yuy after the martyred colonial leader, is intercepted by Specials ace pilot Zechs Merquise and forced to temporarily ditch his Gundam at sea. Staggering ashore, Heero encounters Relena Darlian, daughter of the Alliance's foreign minister. Heero promises to kill her to conceal his identity, but it soon becomes clear he can't bring himself to carry out the threat.

Operation Daybreak
Terrified of the unstoppable Gundams, the Alliance generals send Relena's father to open negotations with the space colonies. Specials leader Treize Khushrenada is determined to thwart these peace overtures, and dispatches his trusted aide Lady Une to sabotage the diplomatic mission. Relena's father is assassinated by Lady Une and, with his dying breath, reveals Relena's true identity - she is Relena Peacecraft, princess of the Sanc Kingdom that was crushed by the Alliance thirteen years ago. What she doesn't yet know is that her long-lost brother Milliardo is in fact Specials ace Zechs Merquise.

The Alliance generals meet and decide to make peace with the colonies. When the Gundam pilots attack the meeting, cunning Treize evacuates the peace-minded generals in an OZ shuttle, making them irresistible targets. With the Alliance's leaders slain, OZ discards the "Specials" moniker and seizes power under its own name, launching Operation Daybreak to wipe out all resistance from the Alliance's terrestrial forces. The coup serves a more private purpose for Zechs, the erstwhile Milliardo Peacecraft, as he avenges his father's death by slaying the Alliance general who conquered the Sanc Kingdom.

Self-Destruction
With Earth under its complete control, OZ readies for the conquest of the space colonies. For this purpose the Romefeller Foundation has developed unmanned, computer-controlled mobile suits called "mobile dolls," faster and more lethal than any human pilot. Ordered to prevent these new weapons from being sent into space, the Gundam pilots find they've been lured into a trap when Lady Une orders them to surrender or witness the destruction of defenseless space colonies. Breaking off a duel with Zechs, Heero defiantly self-destructs his Gundam and buys enough time for Treize to overrule Lady Une's unsportsmanlike plan. The mobile dolls are delivered on schedule, as Trowa carries Heero's battered body to safety.

Compelled by honor, Zechs rebuilds Heero's ruined Gundam, then tracks down the wandering Gundam pilot and challenges him to a rematch at a remote Antarctic base. Zechs' activities do not escape the attention of the Romefeller Foundation, which dispatches a small army to the Antarctic to eliminate the rogue ace. Holding off the Foundation's hit squad, Zechs allows Heero and Trowa to escape.

The Space Colonies
The five Gundam pilots hijack shuttles and launch into space to defend their home colonies. But OZ uses its dreaded mobile dolls against the Alliance occupation forces, rather than the colonies themselves. After twenty years of the Alliance's tyranny, the colonies are easily persuaded to welcome OZ as a liberator. Submitting to OZ's benevolent guidance, the colonies begin arming themselves - thus funneling more money into the Romefeller Foundation's coffers - and brand the Gundam pilots who fought on the their behalf as troublemakers and subversives.

Manifesting an unexpected split personality, Lady Une becomes OZ's saintly emissary to the colonies. In her more familiar persona, she orders the capture of the five scientists who created the Gundams, and has them brought to OZ's lunar base to develop new mobile suits under her supervision. Infiltrating OZ's ranks, Trowa is teamed up with the captured Heero; the pair are put to work as test pilots to gather data on the new mobile suits.

In their first combat foray, Heero and Trowa intercept Zechs Merquise as he launches into Earth orbit. Claiming to be an ambassador from the non-existent Sanc Kingdom, Zechs has come to make a goodwill tour of the space colonies and urge them to reject OZ's militarism. While he begins his diplomatic tour, Duo and Wufei also attempt to attack OZ's lunar base and are captured in turn. All this is according to the plan of the five scientists, who have gathered all but one of their Gundam pilots while secretly using OZ's resources to rebuild Duo's and Wufei's ravaged Gundams. But one Gundam pilot remains unaccounted for...

The Gundam Called Zero
Quatre has returned to his family's factory asteroid. Here, he sees his pacifist father's civilian employees pledge their allegiance to OZ, killing father Winner in the process. Temporarily unhinged by this traumatic experience, Quatre digs up the blueprints of the ancestor of all the Gundams - the never-completed, hideously destructive Wing Gundam Zero - and begins a one-man war against OZ. But the Wing Gundam Zero's brainwave control system turns out to have mind-warping side-effects. Sliding into madness under the "Zero System"'s influence, Quatre extrapolates his father's pacifism into a mandate to punish the colonies for subscribing to OZ's militarism.

Lady Une dispatches Heero and Trowa to stop Quatre's rampage. In the course of the battle, Trowa sacrifices himself to save Heero; Quatre is shocked back into sanity, and returns with Heero to OZ's lunar base. But while they were away, the political situation has taken a turn for the bizarre.

Operation Nova
To protest the Romefeller Foundation's plans - in particular, its increasing use of mobile dolls, which he considers dishonorable - Treize resigns his position as OZ's leader. OZ promptly splits into two factions, one loyal to the Foundation and another following Treize. The Romefeller faction takes over OZ's lunar base. Lady Une is shot, but not before saving Duo, Wufei and the five scientists from termination at the Romefeller faction's hands. Heero and Quatre, finding themselves caught in the middle of OZ's civil war, abandon the madness-inducing Wing Gundam Zero and flee to Earth.

In order to eliminate the Treize faction, the Romefeller Foundation launches Operation Nova, a massive invasion of Earth using new mobile dolls based on the work of the five scientists. Zechs attempts to intercept the Foundation's forces, but he is just one man against legions.

Rise and Fall of the Sanc Kingdom
On Earth, Heero and Quatre find their way to the Sanc Kingdom, resurrected under the leadership of Relena Peacecraft and dedicated to the principle of total pacifism. Accepting Relena's invitation, they soon find themselves busy fending off the Romefeller Foundation's incursions. They must also contend with the devious and conflict-loving Dorothy Catalonia, an "exchange student" from the Romefeller Foundation. Ostensibly there to study Relena's pacifist philosophies, Dorothy is actually the eyes and ears of her grandfather Duke Dermail, leader of the Romefeller Foundation.

The Foundation concludes Operation Nova with a massive assault on Treize's headquarters in Luxembourg. Heero arrives at Luxembourg just as Treize's forces collapse, and the former OZ leader gives him a dubious gift - the mysterious Gundam Epyon, equipped with its own Zero System. Meanwhile, in space, the Romefeller faction attempts to lure Zechs to his death by using the Wing Gundam Zero as bait. The trap fails, instead giving the rebel ace a sorely-needed hardware upgrade.

Relena, Queen of the World
With the Treize faction defeated, the Romefeller Foundation turns its attention to the pacifistic Sanc Kingdom. Heero, Quatre and the other defenders fight fiercely, but Relena surrenders rather than see her kingdom turned to rubble. Heero, driven to a berserker frenzy by the Gundam Epyon's Zero System, fights on until Zechs arrives from space, too late to save his family's kingdom from a second conquest. Zechs and Heero duel each other until they collapse, trade Gundams, then gather their Zero System-addled wits and fight their way to freedom.

Now a captive of the Romefeller Foundation, Relena receives a surprising offer from Duke Dermail. To legitimize its conquest, the Foundation plans to declare the establishment of the "World Nation," and Queen Relena Peacecraft would make an excellent figurehead. Relena accepts, and then readies her address to the Romefeller Foundation's members. Amazingly, her appeal to the assembled executives - that, with total power now in their hands, they can afford to be magnanimous and strive for peace, justice and enlightened coexistence between Earth and the space colonies - is enthusiastically accepted. The Romefeller Foundation's members pledge to reject Dermail's empire-building and become good guys.

The Artemis Revolution
Just as the Romefeller Foundation dedicates itself to peace and justice, a new faction enters the fray. Masterminded by the wizened, enigmatic Quinze - the man behind Operation Meteor - rebellious OZ members and colonial resistance fighters form a militia group called "White Fang," dedicated to total independence for the space colonies. In short order White Fang occupies the lunar base, captures its mobile doll production facilities, and seizes the Foundation's ultimate weapon, the nearly-complete space fortress Libra.

Just as the Romefeller Foundation sought a figurehead, so too does White Fang. Quinze recruits Zechs Merquise as White Fang's token leader, and he proves to be just as difficult to control as his sister. In a worldwide broadcast, Zechs declares that, since Earth and the space colonies can never peacefully coexist, he will destroy Earth. As Zechs declares his intentions, the Romefeller Foundation's hapless Duke Dermail, attempting to reassert his leadership by personally leading an offensive to recapture Libra, is vaporized by White Fang's forces.

With the magnitude of the White Fang threat now apparent, the Romefeller Foundation's members are panic-stricken. Taking advantage of their abject terror, Treize stages a coup d'etat and seizes control of the World Nation. The deposed Relena leaves for space with the intention of talking some sense into her brother. Dorothy follows suit, with quite the opposite intention.

The Gundam Team
While all this frantic realignment is going on, Quatre and the Sanc Kingdom's other defenders have returned to space. They discover that Trowa is still alive, albeit temporarily amnesiac, and convince Duo to join their ranks.

Wufei, meanwhile, has seen his home colony destroyed and launched into a suicidal rampage. In the depths of his despair he encounters Heero, and the mind-warping effects of the Wing Gundam Zero's control system actually serve to straighten out his tormented mind and reveal the solution to the current crisis: Both Treize and Zechs must be eliminated for the sake of world peace. Soon all five Gundam pilots are gathered at the space fortress Peacemillion, ready to intervene in the escalating conflict.

Space Fortress Libra
As Treize begins fighting back against White Fang, Zechs employs his ultimate weapon, blasting Earth with Libra's powerful main gun despite Relena's attempted intervention. The Gundam Team attempt to fight their way through White Fang's legions of mobile dolls to Libra itself, but Zechs holds them back by adapting the Gundam Epyon's Zero System into a remote control system through which Dorothy can coordinate mass quantities of mobile dolls.

Treize gathers the entire forces of the World Nation for an all-out assault on Libra. Before sending his soldiers to their doom, he attempts to resolve the situation by challenging Zechs to a one-on-one duel, but the no longer honor-obsessed Zechs responds by blasting him with Libra's main gun. Though Treize is prepared to let Zechs kill him, the comatose Lady Une awakens just in time to race to the scene and shove Treize out of the way of the lethal beam. With no other option, Treize orders the World Nation into a hopeless battle against White Fang's hordes of mobile dolls.

The Eve Wars
As the battle rages, the Gundam Team's allies physically ram Libra with the space fortress Peacemillion. The collision destroys Libra's main gun, but since its engines are still intact, Zechs orders Quinze to set Libra in motion toward Earth and thus create an impact large enough to render the planet uninhabitable. Breaking into the damaged Libra, the Gundam Team destroy the mobile doll control system and locate the five scientists.

Treize is killed in mortal combat with Wufei, whereupon Lady Une promptly declares the surrender of the World Nation. But though the war is over, Zechs is still determined to carry out his threat to destroy Earth, and Libra's descent continues.

The Final Battle
Now Zechs has one last loose end to attend to - his long-delayed showdown with Heero. The two rivals fight on and on throughout Libra's crumbling innards, while Lady Une has their pointless duel broadcast worldwide as a case study in the futility of war and hatred.

The five scientists attempt to use Peacemillion's engines to reverse Libra's course. Quinze, appearing too late to stop them, disappears along with the scientists in the explosion of Peacemillion's engines. Though the gambit is successful, a large fragment of Libra snaps off and continues its inexorable descent.

Now it's up to Heero. Dealing a crippling blow to Zechs' Gundam Epyon, he proceeds to the main engine of the remaining Libra fragment but discovers he's used up all his ammunition. Just as Heero is about to self-destruct in a desperate attempt to destroy the engine, Zechs appears and takes it out for him, promising they'll meet again as he's enveloped by the blast. As the falling hulk enters Earth's atmosphere, Heero recovers the Wing Gundam Zero's mighty rifle and demolishes the last fragment of Libra with one final, desperate shot.

Conclusion
With Zechs and Treize out of the picture, peace is indeed at hand. Representatives of the space colonies make peace with the World Nation, establishing the Earth Sphere Unified Nation. Relena and Lady Une take their places in the new world order and devote their energies to serving humanity, while the Gundam pilots quietly retire... for now.
